Digital Transformation in Business – DigitalBIZ

DigitalBIZ is financed through UNDP’s global Rapid Financing Facility (RFF) to support Country Offices to leverage strategic partnerships and support national recovery efforts as part of UN socio-economic recovery support in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

DigitalBIZ will support institutional partners and other relevant actors, namely business support organizations, in deploying the digital economy as a lever for enhancing economic competitiveness and accelerating overall economic growth.

Low digital connectivity is hampering private sector growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. While the ICT industry grows at a rapid rate, the country's overall economy is failing to harness new technologies to boost competitiveness and increase output. More recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the necessity of accelerated digital transformation across all industries with business digitalization widely seen as a driver of change, offering new growth prospects. Despite its significance for the economy, digitalization does not feature prominently in relevant policy documents. The level of collaboration between the burgeoning ICT sector and other industries remains low. Business support services and products, including in the field of digitalization and business innovation, are also limited.

Together with other ongoing UNDP initiatives, DigitalBIZ will address these issues in a comprehensive approach and build the required foundations for a broader intervention in the area of digital economy.

What do we do?

DigitalBIZ is working with institutional partners

  • The Project will support digital transformation of the economy through necessary policy and regulatory changes, capacity development, as well as support to technology and business innovation infrastructure.

DigitalBIZ is working with Business Development Service providers and MSMEs

  • The Project will assess the digital performance and readiness of businesses through employing the Digital Pulse online tool. DigitalBIZ will then work with business development service providers (e.g. chambers of trade, development agencies, innovation centres, etc.) to enhance their service offer for digitalization of businesses.

  • Finally, DigitalBIZ will deploy digitalization support schemes for MSMEs, including training and mentoring, as well as public incentive schemes promoting digital transformation in business.

What is the Digital Pulse?

The Digital Pulse is a self-assessment online tool for traditional (non-IT) companies looking to digitalize. It helps them identify their current digital performance in six business areas (digital marketing and sale, digital customer management, digital HR, cybersecurity, digital company management, digital production/service delivery). Based on the answers provided, the tool recommends companies the immediate steps to consider on their digital transformation journey. Summary reports provide business intelligence to the DigitalBIZ on digital skills gaps, impediments and needs of the companies for further digitalization and innovation in the private sector.

The Digital Pulse remains continuously accessible on www.digitalnaekonomija.ba
