EU4Business Project: 1,618,000 BAM for agricultural production support in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The EU4Business project, funded by the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, under which UNDP implements activities related to the agriculture, food production and rural development, in February 2019 launched the Call for Potential Grant Beneficiaries under Agricultural Holdings Support Measure (Primary Production).

A total of 93 project proposals have been submitted. The Evaluation Commission evaluated the project proposals and selected the 10 most promising ones.

Agricultural holdings from Gradačac, Pelagićevo, Šamac, Bijeljina, Kozarska Dubica, Prnjavor, Livno, Prijedor, Odžak and Han Pijesak will have the opportunity to work on modernization of their production, productivity increase of agricultural holdings and strengthening of competitiveness through the introduction of new technologies and innovations in primary production processes, improvement of  product quality, hygiene and food safety and introduction of good practices for the management of natural resources and environmental protection, as well as creating new market opportunities.

Individuals, entrepreneurs, cooperatives and companies dealing with agricultural production of fruits, vegetables, grapes, grains and oil plants as well as meat and milk production were eligible to apply to the public call.

The total available project funds for supporting investments in agricultural holdings amounted to 1,618,000 BAM, while total value of investments of 2,956,000 BAM will support 10 projects, out of which the EU will finance 1,618,000 BAM, while the beneficiaries will provide additional financing in the amount of 1,338,000 BAM.

UNDP through the EU4Business project will announce two more public calls to support agricultural producers by the end of the year, where the first (publication end of July 2019) will support food producers, while the second one (publication December 2019) will support small agricultural producers through implementation of local development strategies.
