Project LID: Selection results of start-up beneficiaries that will be supported through grant funding in starting their agriculture and food production businesses (Agro-Food Start-up)

Within the scope of “Local Integrated Development” Project (LID), the Public Call for the participation in the program of entrepreneurship development and provision of support for establishing start-ups in agriculture and food production (Agro-Food Start-up) was announced on March 19, 2018 and closed on April 23, 2018. The call was announced in cooperation with the Government of Posavina Canton and the Federal Employment Bureau.

The Public Call was opened to all interested individuals and crafts not older than 12 months from the following areas of local governments: Domaljevac-Šamac, Odžak and Orašje.

The Evaluation Committee evaluated and graded applications against established evaluation criteria set forth in the Public Call. The Evaluation Committee unanimously selected 33 candidates to participate in the specialized program for entrepreneurship development in agriculture and food production.

Following completion of the training program and comprehensive evaluation process, the Commission unanimously selected 12 beneficiaries of the Start-Up program, which will be supported through grant funding for starting their businesses as listed in the table below.

The above-mentioned participants were selected based on successful participation in the Start-Up program and the number of points achieved during all the steps in the evaluation process. In addition to grant funding to be awarded to selected beneficiaries through the purchase of machinery and equipment for starting their businesses, these beneficiaries will be provided with free mentoring support for running their business in 2018. Furthermore, successful participants will be individually informed about the results and will be engaged in activities related to the formalization of cooperation with the UNDP LID project, the allocation of approved funds and the provision of mentoring support.

The Public Call for the participation in the program of entrepreneurship development and provision of support for establishing start-ups in agriculture and food production (Agro-Food Start-up) for interested individuals and crafts from local governments Domaljevac-Šamac, Odžak and Orašje, was announced within LID project, a three-year initiative (2016-2018) primarily financed by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP in BiH), in cooperation with the State Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, Ministry of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Federation of BiH, Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government of RS and two Associations of Cities and Municipalities.

LID project is implemented in 21 local governances in BiH. LID project aims to raise the standards of living and social cohesion in Bosnia and Herzegovina through inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development. Within the component for economic recovery, LID project will directly support the private sector and potential investors to increase an overall economic activity in local communities, ensure economic growth through productive value chains and to create new jobs and income. The project also provides assistances for the long-term unemployed and socially excluded categories of the population, especially returnees, internally displaced persons and long-term unemployed persons.
