Community Hub opens in Nevesinje to serve the needs of local communities

Sep 15, 2017

The Community Hub, built according to the latest standards and adjusted to all categories of population, opened today in the municipal building in Nevesinje.

Manager of the Joint Project of the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Sweden “Strengthening the Role of Local Communities (MZs) in BiH”, Ms. Majda Ganibegović, stressed that Nevesinje comes as a positive example of activism of members of MZs, and was therefore chosen as a venue to mark the 2017 Social Good Summit, as an annual event organised by UNDP globally.

Representatives of the United Nations Development Program visited the village of Krekovi with the ongoing reconstruction of the local school and the village of Drežanj where adaptation of a road section is currently underway.

The project involves six local communities in Nevesinje, and works had already been completed in some of these MZs. The Community Hub is now finalised and it will be used to meet the needs of local communities, non-governmental organisations, the Nevesinje Municipality and all interested stakeholders working in the community interest,” said Mr. Milenko Avdalović, Nevesinje Mayor.

Symbolic opening of a modern community hub aimed to intensify networking between MZs and the Municipality, including a brand new IT equipment, has marked this year’s 2017 Social Good Summit, an annual event to promote the impact of technology and new media on socially responsible initiatives across the globe.
