The UNDP project "Green Economic Development", funded by the Government of Sweden and the entity-level environmental protection funds has so far improved the energy efficiency in 86 public buildings and created over 800 green jobs in BiH".

The works on the primary school "Hrasno" building will include repairing of the damaged roof structure with the installation of thermal insulation, replacement of façade joinery, setting of thermal façade and installation of thermostatic valves. Over 700 students attend this school.

In his address, the Mayor Nedžad Koldžo pointed out: "Analysing the state of primary school buildings in the area of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, it was found that the building of this school is one of the oldest. The Municipality took on the obligation and prepared the project documentation and carried out the energy audit, which is necessary when applying for the UNDP project "Green Economic Development" funded by the Government of Sweden.

Measures for increasing energy efficiency in the building of the primary school "Hrasno" in Sarajevo will be financed by the Government of Sweden, the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of the Sarajevo Canton, the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo and the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Construction and mechanical works to increase energy efficiency will be implemented by the United Nations Development programme (UNDP) as part of the project "Green Economic Development".

Since 2013, UNDP is implementing a five year Green Economic Development Project financed by the Government of Sweden, the Environmental Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund of Republika Srpska.
