Distribution of equipment to local communities to provide quality services to citizens in BiHMar 3, 2017
More than 125 local communities in 23 partner local governments will now be able to provide quality and efficient services to citizens, thanks to a package of IT equipment worth about BAM 300,000.
This week IT equipment will be distributed to municipalities and cities in BiH who participate in realization of the joint project "Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in BiH" of the Swiss Government and the Government of Sweden which is implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Majda Ganibegović, UNDP Project Manager said: "New computer equipment will enable successful provision of services to citizens in BiH, increase the importance of local communities, improve communication with citizens and thus encourage citizens to become more involved in municipal decision-making, and to participate in the implementation of local development initiatives. This is a step towards the revitalization of local communities in BiH".
This activity is implemented within the project "Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in BiH", which is a joint project of the Swiss Government and the Government of Sweden amounting to BAM 14.5 million. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina is tasked with its implementation in partnership with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Justice of the Federation of BiH, the Government of Brčko District and the two entity associations of municipalities and cities.
