Meeting of Joint Program by USAID EIA, UNDP, GIZ under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations related to wood biomass and bioenergyFeb 15, 2017
First meeting of the working groups of Bioenergy Joint Program of the UNDP, GIZ and USAID EIA under the auspices Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held.
Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Ms. Biljana Trivanović, head of unit for secondary energy and projects stated: "We are very pleased that the cooperation of international agencies UNDP, GIZ and USAID AIE contributes to efforts Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve the situation in the bio energy sector in all aspects. We expect that this joint program will have concrete results, and that this first meeting of the working group is the first step towards that. "
Bioenergy Joint Program coordinates activities of three international agencies (UNDP, GIZ and USAID EIA): UNDP (Biomass Energy for Employment and Energy Security financed by Czech Development Agency (CzDA); GIZ Project: Promotion of renewable energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and USAID EIA Project: Investments in energy sector. This program is aiming to identify and contribute to improvements in bioenergy sector in BiH in corporation with relevant institutions.
At the meeting the process of forming working groups of the Joint Programme in the field of bioenergy was presented and discussed as well as further planned activities of each group.
Two separate sessions where held during the meeting: Session of wood biomass and Session of biomass from agriculture. Experts in these fields presented the plan and method for determining the biomass potential in BiH to members of the working group and discussion on this topic was opened.
The first meeting of the working groups of the Joint Programme was attended by about 60 representatives of relevant ministries and public institutions from the state, entity and cantonal level, representatives of private and public enterprises in the field of bioenergy as well as representatives of higher education institutions and non-governmental sector. All participants took active role in the discussion on the next steps in the framework of the Joint Programme and expressed their readiness for active cooperation of their institutions, with the aim of improving the situation in the bio energy sector in BiH.
