The first meeting of the Interinstitutional working group within the project "Technology transfer for climate resilient flood management in Vrbas River Basin"

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 15 July 2015 at Vlašić Mountain organized the first meeting of the inter-institutional working group of the project “Technology transfer for climate resilient flood management in Vrbas River Basin”, which is financed by Global Environment Fund in amount of five million US dollars.

The subject of this meeting was ensuring the involvement of and regular consultation with relevant institutions and experts in development of sectorial policy throughout the implementation process. A second aim was to define the necessary scope of the institutions’ influence and cooperation on the project to help realise the following planned activities:

-    Development of risk maps and flood hazard maps
-    Development of flood risk management plans for the Vrbas River Basin
-    Restoration of hydrometric network and hydrometeorological monitoring;
-    Infrastructure of spatial data;
-    Establishing a system of flood forecasting and early warning
-    Training of workforce
-    Institutional capacity building, etc.

The inter-institutional working group, comprised of representatives from relevant state and entity institutions, listened to a proposal for the project which detailed planned activities, need for resources, and ideas for future cooperative projects.

Implementation of the project “Technology transfer for climate resilient flood management in Vrbas River Basin” started in April this year and will continue into mid-2020.
