The Agreement on Co-financing the “Green Economic Development” project to the tune of BAM 3,782,500 has been signed earlier today in Sarajevo by Yuri Afanasiev, UNDP Resident Representative in BiH, and Safet Harbinja, director of the Environmental  Fund of the Federation of BiH.

“Thanks to UNDP, we have established a database and by the end of this year we will have reached a total of 1,200 facilities in which we can monitor energy consumption and savings. This year we have decided to focus the majority of our activities on the flooded areas and introduce energy efficiency measures in the facilities undergoing reconstruction with the aim of making savings in the budget”, said Safet Harbinja, director of the Environmental Fund of the Federation of BiH, noting that the Fund had allocated an additional BAM 1.039.000 to that end.

The signed agreement will build on the activities aimed at increasing energy efficiency and streamlining energy management with a view to reducing CO2 emissions as well as introducing energy management information system (EMIS) in more than 550 public facilities in the Federation of BiH.

Based on the results of detailed energy audits and further evaluation of the savings resulting from the implementation of energy efficiency measures in selected public facilities in the Federation of BiH, infrastructure measures to increase energy efficiency will be implemented in at least five public facilities.
