Energy Efficiency and Energy Management Trainings for Cantonal and Municipal Representatives

In order to share it’s experiences gained trough implementation of energy efficiency projects in public sector buildings and in order to increase understanding of energy efficiency by public sector, UNDP GED (Green Economic Development) project and Federal Ministry of Physical Planning, organized free trainings for municipal and cantonal representatives from all cantons in Federation BiH.

“These workshops are crucial in spreading the knowledge and helping key stakeholders to learn how to adopt the smart energy use approach and achieve money savings through protection of environment. Today we used the opportunity to present incredible results of our pilot projects, clearly demonstrating that investment in energy efficiency measures is good investment” said Sanjin Avdić, UNDP Energy and Environment Sector Leader.

Trainings are organized in three sessions (northern, central and southern FBIH) and attendees have been introduced to:

  • State of energy efficiency in public sector buildings in FBIH
  • Legal framework in energy efficiency and building sector in BiH/FBiH
  • UNDP experience in energy efficiency and renewable energy implementation in public sector buildings in BiH
  • Implementation and identification of projects and measures for increasing energy efficiency
  • Way of financing energy efficiency projects
  • Concepts and tools for energy management
Two-day trainings have been already completed for three cantons in Herzegovina (HNK, ZHK and K10) and its municipalities in the first week of November in Mostar. Trainings for central FBiH (KS, SBK, BPK and USK) were organized on 13th and 14th November in Sarajevo, while northern cantons (TK, ZDK and PK) are scheduled for last week of November.
