On 29 April, the Witness support office was officially opened at a ceremony held in the Basic Court of Brčko District. This is the 12th office the UNDP helped establish at cantonal or district courts and prosecutor’s offices across BiH.

A delegation of the German Embassy in Sarajevo, led by the Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Rupert J.J. Steeger, together with representatives of UNDP, visited TROM, a military ammunition disposal site in Doboj. The German government supports the project, which aims at reducing ammunition stockpiles and improve ammunition stockpile management in BiH.

EU Floods Recovery Programme Advisory Panel Assesses Progress of Floods Recovery Activities and Discusses Next Steps
The Advisory Panel of the EU Floods Recovery Programme held its third meeting yesterday in Sarajevo to discuss the progress of the floods recovery efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, exchange information on the results achieved so far and discuss future activities. Special emphasis was placed on housing rehabilitation and mitigation of disaster risks in the housing sector, particularly the Floods and Landslides Housing Risk Assessment which is being developed under the auspices of the Programme.

EU Floods Recovery Programme reconstructs a bridge to reconnect citizens of Tumare and Panjik in Lukavac municipality
The bridge, which is being used by around 100 households daily, was heavily damaged in the May 2014 floods and reconstructed by the EU Floods Recovery Programme. The EU-financed works on the site also included improving the regulation of the Bukovica River flow to protect the reconstructed bridge from future flooding.

Public call for participating in rehabilitation of commercial agricultural production through EU Floods Recovery Programme
Through its Economic Recovery component, the EU Floods Recovery Programme will provide grants to individuals who have suffered property damage as a result of May 2014 floods, with the aim of helping them recover their economic standing in selected local administration units (Maglaj, Odžak, Domaljevac-Šamac, Orašje, Tuzla, Sanski Most, Živinice, Zenica, Srebrenik, Lukavac, Žepče, Bijeljina, Šamac, Doboj, Prijedor, Banja Luka, Modriča, Laktaši, Srbac, Šekovići, Vukosavlje, Čelinac, Brčko).

In Prijedor, sixty families today signed contracts that include award of equipment for livestock farming and vegetable growing. Following a public call and a signing ceremony, selected farmers will be given equipment to assist them in development of agricultural production, increase of sustainability and competitiveness.
