Co-Financing Agreement Signed: Project on reduction of Drug Dependence In Herzegovina-Neretva Canton

Nevenko Herceg, the Prime Minister of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), and Sukhrob Khoshmukhamedov, UNDP B&H Deputy Resident Representative, have signed a Co-financing Agreement as a part of the project “Sustainable response to reduce dependency in Bosnia and Herzegovina” with the goal to proportionally increase activities on reduction of harm caused by the disease of dependency of intravenous drug users and replacement therapy in treatment of opiate dependency in HNc. Based on the Agreement signed, the Government of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton will secure BAM 125,000 for the project implementation, while UNDP will enable uninterrupted supply for approximately 200 patients in HNC, and conduct drug prevention programs. It was pointed out that, with this cooperation between the HNC Government and UNDP in procurement of the necessary therapy for treatment of drug dependency, significant savings will be achieved, more precisely, procurement of the necessary medication will be more favorable by 50%. The Project, implemented by the Centre for prevention and outpatient drug dependency treatment Mostar, non-governmental organizations in HNC and UNDP, is the continuation of a successful 10 year-long Program, funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which ended last year. Prime Minister Herceg and Deputy Resident Representative Sukhrob Khoshmukhamedov used the opportunity to talk about other projects UNDP is implementing in various areas of HNC, whose total value amounts to BAM 6 million.
Distribution of equipment to local communities to provide quality services to citizens in BiH

Bioenergy Joint Program coordinates activities of three international agencies (UNDP, GIZ and USAID EIA): UNDP (Biomass Energy for Employment and Energy Security financed by Czech Development Agency (CzDA); GIZ Project: Promotion of renewable energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and USAID EIA Project: Investments in energy sector. This program is aiming to identify and contribute to improvements in bioenergy sector in BiH in corporation with relevant institutions.

During today's regional meeting on war crimes prosecutions and search for missing persons at the Croatian State Prosecution Office, the State Attorney General of the Republic of Croatia, the Chief Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Head of the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor in Serbia and the Deputy Chief State Prosecutor of Montenegro talked about strengthening regional cooperation in the prosecution of war crimes.

Eight regional working meetings for a single vision of local communities

Eight regional working meetings were held throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina within the project "Strengthening the Role of Local Communities (MZ) in BiH" from August to December 2016. At the meetings in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka, Mostar, Bihać, Brčko, Bijeljina and Trebinje participants worked on defining the vision of the local community through productive discussions, which is the vision that will be used as a model for the future of BiH local governments.
