    The Results Presentation of the Local Government Training System in BiH

    Tuberculosis Control Department opened in Foča and Trebinje

    On 1st November 2013, Hospitals in Foča and Trebinje obtained Tuberculosis Ward, which guarantee improved quality of patient treatments and timely diagnosis. Dragan Bogdanić , Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Armin Sirčo, UNDP Senior Coordinator and Social Inclusion and Democratic Governance Sector Leader and Lindsey Cole , portfolio manager of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia were attending open ceremony.

    16 million U.S. dollars ensured for the prevention of HIV infection in BiH

    United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yuri Afanasiev and Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredoje Novic signed the Project Document for the Phase II of the project “Scaling up Universal Access for the Most-At-Risk Populations in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, today in Sarajevo. The project is valued at approximately 16 million US dollars and financed by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) with the aim to prevent spreading of the HIV infection.

    Supporting the Sustainable Return and Development of Birač Region

    The Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations (UN) and the municipalities of Bratunac, Milići, Srebrenica, Zvornik and Vlasenica, was signed today in Srebrenica, marking the begining of the implementation of Development and Cooperation in the Birač Region Project. The project worth 2.1 million USD financed by the Government of Kingdom of Netherlands, ensures the strengthening of local partnerships for sustainable and socially inclusive development in the Birač region.

    Tuberculosis Control Ward Opened and Establishment of Oncology Ward in Travnik Announced

    The Cost Sharing Agreement on reconstruction of Oncology Ward in Travnik was signed by Tahir Lendo, Prime Minister of Central Bosnia Canton and Armin Sirčo, UNDP Senior Coordinator and Social Inclusion and Democratic Governance Sector Leader. The reconstruction will be financed by the Cantonal Government and implemented by the UNDP by the end of 2013, enabling establishment of the Oncology Ward.

    Help for those who need it most

    The Financing Agreement signed between the United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP) and 14 civil society organisations from the city of Banja Luka and municipalities of Tešanj, Višegrad and Novi Grad provides for the implementation of projects worth a total of about BAM 640,000, which will address specific issues in the areas of assistance for people with special needs, care for the elderly, employment of marginalised groups, and social inclusion of the Roma population.

    Witness support offices established in Travnik/Novi Travnik and Bihać
