Though very slowly, estimated number of TB patients has been decreasing: TB incidence rates showed a descending trend after 2002, as did the absolute number of TB patients after 2006.

  • Jul 18, 2013The PIH Guide to the Medical Management of Multidrug-Resistant TuberculosisAlthough the large majority of tuberculosis cases worldwide are drug susceptible, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) presents an emerging threat to global tuberculosis control. Strains of MDR TB are, by definition, those resistant to the two most potent antituberculosis medications, isoniazid and rifampin. The loss of susceptibility to isoniazid and rifampin makes such strains of tuberculosis more difficult to treat.


The Social Inclusion and Governance Sector assists BiH central, entity and local governments to achieve higher standards of governance effectiveness through better planning, budgeting, provision of public goods to citizens and accountability. By tackling these challenges UNDP influences the policy level, which affects the lives of ordinary citizens and particularly the most vulnerable groups.
